Post Test – Block III

Feedback:

Case 1.  S.S. is a 67 year old woman with malignant  melanoma and widespread metastases.

Question 1 (of 7).

At this initial assessment, S.S. is found to have dull pain diffusely throughout her chest and upper abdomen, related to previously identified metastases in her lungs, liver, and mesenteric lymph nodes.  The pain is 7-8 out of 10, and her current treatment (hydrocodone 5 mg with acetaminophen 500 mg, 2 every four hours) has been providing inadequate relief (she reports “it maybe gets it down to a 6”).  She has no known allergies to medications and has not experienced any adverse effects from her current pain medication.

A.  Calculate the dose of morphine equianalgesic to her current regimen:

mg per 24 hours  (Table)
